Cedric was a compelling conceptual inno vator who radically expanded architecture’s capacity to think and remain relevant. He was a sharp, passionate, serious critic. He used to come to my AA juries and more than anybody else he had always seriously informed and prepared himself with respect to our studio agenda. He was anti-monument and there was not the slightest trace of nostalgia. I think the idea that a whole Biennale pavilion should be dedicated to two dead heroes— instead of showing contemporary work—would have called forth Cedric’s typically dry and trenchant dismissal.
